BIO PEEL
(HERBAL PEEL)
A Bio Peel is an organic herbal peel in which a blend of dried herbs, seaweed, algae, and/or plant and fruit extracts is applied to the skin. These extracts encourage the skin to re-form itself from within, resulting in visible outcomes. Each peel has its own specific effects and treats particular indications. Unlike fruit acid peels, the herbal peel can be performed throughout the year. This is possible because the peel works from within the skin, not externally. Through a massage, the beneficial substances from the herbal blend are optimally absorbed by the skin. Immediately after the treatment, the skin is deeply cleansed and feels incredibly smooth and soft. The skin's smooth and soft sensation is due to the removal of the upper layers of dead skin cells.

FRUITACID PEELING (CHEMICAL PEEL)
Fruit acid peels (also known as chemical peels due to the reaction they provoke in your skin cells) can be categorized into three types: AHA & PHA (water-soluble acids) and BHA (lipid-soluble acids). The AHA acids (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) include Glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, and mandelic acid. An AHA fruit acid peel essentially loosens the dead skin cells. As a result, the dead skin cells are shed more easily and quickly (referred to as "peeling"). The skin becomes visibly smoother, plumper, and more even-toned. It also stimulates the production of new collagen. Under this category, there are also PHA acids (Poly Hydroxy Acids), which are akin to AHA's. They offer the same effects but in a milder form due to their different molecular structure. Some examples are gluconolactone, galactose, and lactobionic acid. We do not use these PHA acids in our salon. The BHA acids (Beta Hydroxy Acids) include salicylic acid, betaine salicylate, willow bark, and willow bark extract. These acids are suitable for oily or acne-prone skin. They have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making them a good treatment option for conditions like rosacea. These oil-soluble acids deeply cleanse the pores and dissolve sebum.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I choose between a fruit acid peel and a bio peel? Initially, you might consider the time of the year. Fruit acid (AHA) peels are available during the winter months, while Fruit acid (BHA) peels and Bio peels can be chosen throughout the year. On our website, you can find information about the different effects of our peels. This can assist you in making your choice. Don't worry about making the wrong choice, during the appointment, we will work together with you to determine which peel is most suitable for your skin. If you would like advice beforehand, you can schedule a free consultation.
I have rosacea, acne, eczema, or another skin condition. Can I still get a peel? We want to ensure that our treatments are safe and effective for all our clients, including those with specific skin conditions like rosacea, acne, eczema, or other skin issues. If you have a skin condition, we recommend scheduling a consultation before undergoing a peel. Our experienced skin specialists will assess your skin carefully and discuss which treatment is most suitable for your specific situation.
What can I expect and do you have any special advice for after the peeling treatment? Fruit Acid Peel: You may experience a warm or tingling sensation. This usually occurs only when we apply a higher percentage of the peel. Fortunately, this is temporary, and most people find it manageable. The peel is only on the skin for a few minutes. We have a fan available for some cooling sensation. Afterward, you might notice a pink glow, sometimes mild redness, and the skin can feel slightly tight and dry. In most cases, you'll see some improvement in the texture and appearance of your skin immediately after the first treatment. The higher the percentage, the more intense the treatment will be. Bio Peel: The bio peel we use feels gentle on the skin. Only the pumpkin peel might cause a slight tingling sensation. After the treatment, you might experience a slight sensitivity, tightness, and dryness, sometimes a mild tingling sensation when touched. But above all, your skin will feel super soft and smooth. Due to improved blood circulation, the skin might become slightly redder and lightly flaky during the first 12 to 24 hours (the latter doesn't happen to everyone). So, it's advisable not to plan any significant events immediately after your treatment.
How often do you recommend getting a peel treatment? In general, it's good to consider a chemical peel about every four to six weeks. Some peel treatments, like those that help with acne, can even be done every two weeks until you achieve the desired results. The key is to remember that the type of peel and how often you do it depends on the health of your skin and the specific issues you want to address. So, your skin will guide you in determining what's best for it!
Can I experience skin peeling after a fruit acid peel or bio peel? Our peels are categorized into light, medium, and heavy variants, with the first two being the most common. These typically do not result in skin peeling. Even with the heavier peels, which are rarely used, the chance of peeling is minimal. Furthermore, our peels do not contain hydrogen peroxide, which is often responsible for skin peeling.
Can I undergo a peel while I'm pregnant or breastfeeding? While pregnancy and breastfeeding are not always contraindications, we don't necessarily recommend getting a peel during these periods. The altered hormonal balance can lead to unexpected skin reactions. The skin's sensitivity to reactions may increase, which could potentially lead to allergic reactions. We would advise opting for a deep cleansing treatment like the 'Le grand classique', 'Hydralessence', or 'Sensitive' instead. You might wonder why? Certain acids like salicylic acid and retinol (vitamin A) can enter the bloodstream and potentially affect the baby. These acids are often used in skincare products, even during pregnancy. This is why certain chemical peels might not be suitable. However, this doesn't mean that all chemical peels are unsuitable. For example, lactic acid is considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For more information and advice, we invite you to a free consultation or you can email us at info@manonwillemina.com.
